LIVABILITY 2040: Regional Transportation Plan Update
The Livability 2040: Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) is quickly approaching the finish line of its nearly two-year development. The Memphis Urban Area Metropolitan Organization (MPO) hosted a second round of public meetings in July to present the draft plan's findings and recommendations to the public. The meetings were held at various locations throughout the MPO area in order to cover a broader range of the public. During these meetings, the public was briefed on the progress of the RTP and how public engagement has helped to guide the process.
The Memphis MPO is gearing up for the third and final round of public meetings, which are anticipated in November 2015 in order to coincide with the release of the plan for public review. Keep checking the Memphis MPO's website for updates on the RTP process. The site can be accessed here.

Memphis MPO/MATA Bus Stop Study
The Memphis MPO, in partnership with the Memphis Area Transit Authority (MATA), will begin to develop a set of guidelines and standards concerning the location, accessibility, and design of bus stop facilities such as, shelters, seating, signage, bike racks, lighting, trash receptacles, and other customer amenities such as ticket vending machines, schedule information, and real-time passenger information.
The design guidelines are intended to improve transit service efficiency and operations. The Memphis MPO and MATA hope that these guidelines will improve accessibility and convenience for current and future transit users.

Congestion Management Process (CMP) Approved
The Congestion Management Process (CMP) addresses congestion and mobility within the Memphis MPO Area. As a metropolitan planning area with a population over 200,000, the Memphis MPO is required to maintain a CMP as part of its ongoing transportation planning process. The goal of the CMP is to identify various strategies that can be implemented to help manage traffic congestion in a variety of conditions. The CMP was brought before the Transportation Policy Board on August 27th and approved by the board. As part of the CMP, the Memphis MPO will release a biannual report, for the public and the stakeholders, that will provide a snapshot of the current congestion and mobility trends in the MPO area.
