The Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) is a four year, fiscally constrained, short range program, which provides a prioritized list of multimodal transportation projects within the Metropolitan Planning Area. The TIP provides an overview of how transportation revenues will be invested over a four-year (4) period by state and local agencies that have legal responsibility to build, operate, and maintain that states' highway, street and public transit systems.
The current short-range transportation plan for the Greater Memphis Region is the Fiscal Year (FY) 2017-2020 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). It was adopted by the Memphis MPO's Transportation Policy Board (TPB) on August 25, 2016 and approved by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and Federal Transit Authority (FTA) on January 6, 2017. It covers the period from October 1, 2016 through September 30, 2020.
The Memphis Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is currently in the development of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2020-2023 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), which will cover the period from October 1, 2019 through September 30, 2023. Opportunities for public involvement will occur throughout the development of the FY 2020-23 TIP.
